From Abroad to Japan
If you have been living abroad for a long time, it can be very difficult to find a reliable company to handle your relocation carefully. Selecting your moving company based on price alone can lead to unforseen difficulties after arriving in Japan. If you contact us, we will find a local agent to visit you and make an estimate of what will be required. You can then be confident that your move will go smoothly from packing and loading at your overseas residence until arrival and setup at your residence in Japan.
Customers use our services for various reasons. Some are Japanese citizens relocating to Japan after working or studying abroad;
some may be overseas clients coming to live, work or study in Japan;
some may be newlyweds. Whatever your reason, there are two basic types of move, “door to door” and “door to port”.
1. Door to Door service
This is the same as our door to door export service. After a local agent contracted by us visits you to make an estimate, it will carry out procedures according to our instructions and your requirements.
This may include packing, disassembly of furniture etc., and transport of your shipment to the port where it will be transferred to a ship. On arrival in Japan, we will oversee clearance through customs, and transfer the goods to your home. We can also unpack and reassemble if required. This method is the most reliable and stress free, and used by many of our customers
2.Port to Door Service
If you prefer to arrange shipping to Japan by yourself, you can have a local agent pack and send the goods to Japan. On their arrival here, we will then have the goods cleared through customs and delivered to your residence. For clients with some experience, this can sometimes save money. However, there is often the likelihood of extra fees, taxes, duties etc., plus all the hassle of locating a reliable agent yourself, ensuring all the paperwork is in order, and dealing with any complications along the way. We offer this service if required, but do not recommend it except in special circumstances.

2. Estimate.
We will prepare a cost estimate based on the assessment of a local agent, or on information given by the customer.
3. Application.
If you are satisfied with the estimate, and decide to use our services, we will book the local agent, and they will confirm acking and shipping dates etc with you directly. At this stage, we will also need to know the address in Japan for delivery, and your contact information.
4. Packing.
Please be assured that the local agent will pack specifically according to your requirements, so do not hesitate to give detailed instructions for any special requirements.
Self-packing. Most agents are reluctant to merely pick up goods and deliver them to the port, and will not lower their rates significantly if you do your own packing. Unless you have items you simply must take care of yourself, we recommend that you leave it to the professionals.
Packed by our agent
Packing will be done carefully using professional technology. The local agent will arrange everything from packing to arrival at the port in Japan · Please prepare necessary documents according to their instructions. If you require insurance, please get a copy of the packing list from the agent, fill in the insurance declared amount for each carton and send it to us by e-mail.
5. Pick Up from Local
If your packing is done by our agent, he will pick up your goods the same day for shipping. IMPORTANT: Please be sure to fill out the unaccompanied baggage declaration to be stamped on your arrival in Japan. The original should then be forwarded to us. If this step is omitted, the goods will not be accepted as a moving shipment, and there is a possibility that tax/duty will be incurred.
6. Export procedure by local agent
The local agent will arrange clearance through local customs, and book shipment to Japan. Please allow anything from one to ten weeks, depending upon country of origin.
7. Domestic import customs clearance procedure.
Once your goods arrive, we will arrange import clearance through Japanese customs. PLEASE NOTE The shipping company will usually require extra fees before releasing the shipment. These may include one or more of the following:- port fees; taxes; customs examination; storage etc. It is very difficult for us to estimate these fees in advance, so they are normally paid by the customer directly to the shipping company on the goods’ arrival in Japan.
8. Collection and delivery of your shipment.
We will contact you after completion of customs clearance so we can arrange the delivery date and deliver your goods. When making instructions for delivery, please make sure to confirm what kind of residence you live in. In some cases additional fees (such as use of an elevator or local parking fees) will occur. We will carry your goods to each room according to your instructions. Furniture etc. will also be unpacked, assembled, and installed if necessary. Note that for IKEA furniture, brand furniture and some other items, a separate fee will be charged. We will also collect and remove packing materials etc. when your move is completed.
